Study of the Yrast Band Structures of the Hafnium Isotopes

Abstract. In the present work we study the properties of high spin states and the alignment effects in the lighter 157-175Hf isotopes. An interesting nuclear feature emerging from this study concerns the evaluation of the moment of inertia and the yrast line yields conclusions about the nuclear shape. The nature of the back-bending phenomena in the Hf isotopes is discussed.
