Abstract. A theoretical investigation is carried out of the concurrent joint effect of the diffraction coherency and atmospheric turbulence on the energy balance of optical passive remote sounding. It is shown that neglecting of these factors in the designing of radiometers for sounding of objects with small angular dimensions In the infrared under the conditions of the most frequently observed turbulization stages might result in inadmissible deviations of the project energy mode characterist!cs from those really obtained.
