Methods for Optimizing the Quality of Optical Surfaces Prepared of Single Crystal Sapphire

Abstract. A mathematical model is put forward for optical surfaces prepared of sapphire. The model is based on the microscopic regularities of the friction surfaces, anisotropy in the mechanical properties and the chosen type of processing. The use of an adatptive process and electron-ray technology after optical polishing is recommended.
