Abstract. A mobile (truck-mounted) FM/CW scatterometer system operating at X-band is described. The radar system has been designed within the framework of the scientific investigation project entitled Microwave Active Remote Sensing Methods Development for Investigation of Soil and Soil Erosion Processes. This microwave instrument has been generally developed to provide experimental data for scattering properties of agriculture fields with different rate of soil erosion. The design details of scatterometer realization and calibration procedures used in the backscattering measurements are presented and discussed in this paper.
